ERIK MADIGAN HECK

Erik Madigan Heck was born in 1983 in Minnesota. He had already developed an interest in the art of photography at the age of 14 after receiving his first camera as a gift from his mother, an artist and a connoisseur of fine art. In 2002, as a senior in high school, he received the Scholastic Art Awards Gold Medal from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers for his work in photography. At the age of 23, he founded the Nomenus Quarterly magazine, a non-periodical limited edition uniting the worlds of contemporary art and haute couture. This magazine is one of the most expensive in the world: the price of one copy ranges from $2,500 to $6,500. In 2013, Erik Madigan Heck became one of the youngest photographers to receive the ICP Infinity Award, and in 2015 he won the AI-IP American Photography award. He is a regular contributor to The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Time, The New Yorker, and Harper’s Bazaar UK. Heck works with such world stars as Natalie Portman, Tilda Swinton, Adele, Pharrell Williams, and Dakota Fanning, as well as the famous brands Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Dries Van Noten, Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Kenzo. Forbes included Heck in its 30 Under 30 list, a compilation of the 30 most successful people under the age of 30.
