MILES ALDRIDGE
Miles Aldridge’s uncanny, saturated portraits riff on cinematic glamour and erotic tropes. Throughout his work, Aldridge draws on a range of influences, from filmmakers such as David Lynch and Federico Fellini to photographer Richard Avedon and movements including Pop art and psychedelia. Before embracing his current studio practice, Aldridge directed music videos and worked as a fashion photographer. The stylized nature of editorial shoots still pervades his sleek shots, which often feature perfectly coiffed women. Aldridge has exhibited in New York, Berlin, Amsterdam, and London. His photographs belong in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery, the British Museum, the International Center of Photography, the Fondation Carmignac, and the Nicola Erni Collection. He has shot for publications including Vogue, The New Yorker, and the New York Times.

THE PROMISE
In 2017, the Italian issue of Vogue asked Aldridge to do a photo shoot for the beauty section, which would focus on advertising cosmetics. He responded to the challenge with his usual surrealistic fantasy and chose to work with Dutch model Cato van Ee. She became the character of the series ‘The End,’ consisting of seven shots. After that, the model’s career gained momentum. Later, the photographer renamed the series to ‘The Promise,’ which gives us hope that there will be a continuation of it. © Miles Aldridge
AFTER CATTELAN #3
The photograph (After Cattelan) #3 is a result of collaboration between Miles Aldridge and contemporary Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. It started with an email sent by Cattelan to Aldridge that said: ‘I believe that in the sea of images it’s still possible to create meaningful work.’ Together, they generated many insanely beautiful ideas and created a series of four photographs called (After Cattelan). © Miles Aldridge
